AdWords Answer

Read Question of Long Display URL In Google AdWords

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your email regarding your Display URL.

The Display URL for each AdWords ad is limited to 35 characters. As you mentioned, this character limit may prevent you from displaying the actual URL of your site in your ad.

You may consider using a shortened version of your URL, such as your homepage. Please be sure that your Display URL accurately represents your Destination URL, the page within your site to which users are taken via your ad.

Also, please note that your Display URL must be an actual web address, appearing in the form of a valid URL. It must include the extension (such as .com, .net, .org, etc.). It doesn't need to include the prefix (such as http:// or www).

For example, since the Display URL 'professionalwebservices.blogspot.com' is longer than 35 characters, I suggest changing your Display URL to 'prowebservices.blogspot.com.' As long as your Destination URL links to a page within the domain 'blogspot.com,' this is acceptable per our Editorial Guidelines.

After making any changes to your Display URL, save your ad. This automatically submits your ad back to us for review. We appreciate your effort in complying with our Editorial Guidelines.

You can review our guidelines at: http://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html

AdWords Question

AdWords Question

Problem placing a long url into the displayed area. What do I do if I want to use a blog address as a url for a landing page if the url has too many characters? For example: I wanted to create an ad for Home Run Marketing with professionalwebservices.blogspot.com displayed and the actual link to http://professionalwebservicesphotos.blogspot.com/2005/05/ marketing-home-run.html

The problem was I could not properly display the url. In the past I found out that the url needed to be the same root as the link. Are there exceptions to this rule.

For instance, could I use
pwebs.net
as the displayed url and an actual link to the article? As it was, I got around this by developing a landing page at pwebs.net with the following address: http://pwebs.net/Marketing-Impact-Ad.htm and then provided a link to the other page. Is there another way around this issue?

Thank you for your time.
